Meet the Sunnycrest Family
Two generations of family leadership
The term “family” has been hijacked in recent years by the big corporations who grab all the headlines in the senior living business. While they are no more family businesses than other publicly traded companies, they foster this illusion because the idea of trusting your loved ones to a mega-chain might well give you pause.
When we say family, we mean family.
At Sunnycrest, family is not just an ad slogan, it is an accurate description. There is and always has been a real family in charge here.
Jack Slomovic, the founder of Sunnycrest, built his dream community in 1988, after decades of experience creating many other exceptional and well regarded senior living communities. Sunnycrest marks the apex of his career, which he sees as a mission, inspired by his experiences during World War II, to preserve families and improve the lives of the elderly.
In Sunnycrest, he fulfilled his vision for a tranquil environment that would provide a haven for seniors, while at the same time remaining connected to the vibrant civic life of its neighborhood.
Jack, his son David and his daughter Sharon, are committed to keeping Sunnycrest an independent, family owned business. David, who left a successful law practice after 10 years to learn the family business spent many years as Executive Director and now oversees operations. It is not unusual to see David, often together with Jack, walking through the building together; meeting with the staff; visiting with residents many of whom they know by name, and sampling the food.
The decades of commitment by the Slomovic family is what really separates their operation from the faux family corporate chains they have watched enter and exit the senior living business. In fact, David hopes one day to hand Sunnycrest down to his children, whom you are sure to see when you attend one of our many parties.
Here, the true meaning of family is brought to life, Real people caring for each other the way real families do and coming together as the Sunnycrest family.
